Does anyone know if someone is working on (or has completed) a Linux clone
of Windows Media Connect? I have my eye on a networked A/V Receiver whihc
requires Media Connect to stream digital content ove rthe LAN, but it
requires Windows Media Connect to be running on one of the connectec PCs.
I'd *MUCH* rather spool the content from one of my Linux servers. I know
the whole DRM wasteland is one big quagmire, but it seems to me if someone
was enterprising enough to write SAMBA, then someone else might be
enterprising enough to write a Linux clone of WMC.

Google is your friend...
I did a google search for "windows media connect linux"

and got this...

...about 4,030,000 for windows media connect linux. (0.32 seconds)

I'm not going to do all the hard work for you, but this url below mentions 3
possible solutions for you.If no ne of them work, then I'd start googleing
for matches to UPNP...

Personally, Mythtv and a couple of pvr150's have been doing quite nicely
here at home.

Yeah, I had already seen that one, and I Googled for "Linux UPNP", but
almost everything
I saw was talking about UPNP Internet Gateways, which isn't what I want, at
all.. MythTV isn't what I want, either (I've already got 3 networked
TiVos, including 2 Series III TiVos and a hacked Series I). I did come
across an interesting looking UPNP server with a Linux port called
TwonkyMedia. It's from Germany, and it has a 30 day free trial. It also
has a lengthly list of supported devices, including the A/V receiver in
which I am interested (the Yamaha RX-V2700). Now I just guess I need to
find someone who will loan me the A/V Receiver to test.

Does anyone out there have any experience with TwonkyMedia or any other
UPNP server under Linux?
